Neutral Summary
The co-owner of Art of Play, a Brooklyn curiosity shop, says staff members are now receiving death threats from fans of Kelly Clarkson following her viral social media post about a disagreement there. Adam Rubin stated that Clarkson's actions had placed employees in genuine danger, calling her use of celebrity influence reprehensible. The original dispute centered on Clarkson's claim that staff made her feel she could not afford a costly mechanical bird, while the shop maintained the item was never for sale.
How the Left Frames It
Left-leaning outlets largely framed the situation as one that reflects poorly on Clarkson, with Slate arguing she was the only embarrassing party in the saga, while others explored how a celebrity's reach can overwhelm a small business and what that reveals about the responsibilities that come with fame.
How the Right Frames It
Right-leaning outlets centered their coverage on Rubin's warnings about staff safety and his direct accusations against Clarkson, highlighting his claim that her social media post amounted to a gross misuse of celebrity power, and noting that the bird's asking price has since climbed dramatically amid the controversy.
